The Adirondack Humane Society, like other not-for-profit organizations, is governed by a board of directors that relies on the donations of generous individuals, both in their time and monetarily. The money garnered through donations is used to keep the shelter, it's staff, and animals well-cared for.
In order to maintain the level of care that we feel important to manage the shelter, the Adirondack Humane Society developed the idea of Cause for Paws Thrift Store. This shop has been active for years, and while it serves the community as a source of interesting, low-cost finds, it is also an important resource toward the shelter's budget.
In 2009, AHS found the opportunity to open a second thrift store, Not Necessarily New(NNN), right across the street from its counterpart. As it's name implies, NNN caters to the more gently used items that local folks donate to help benefit the shelter. Though NNN has only been open for a relatively short while, it, too, has proven a great financial resource for shelter operation.
We know it may be difficult to contribute money on a regular basis to our cause, but your gently used donations of items like home goods, clothing, dishware and decorative pieces are always welcome! You can also buy a little recycled something for yourself at the stores while giving back directly to the shelter. Thank you one and all!
